Panel Discussion: Curse or Blessing? New Social Media and AI

Panel Discussion (in English)
Date/Time: Friday, Oct. 11, 05:00–07:30 p.m.
Venue: U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt
CAC 4 Entrance, Wetzlarer Str. 1, 60435 Frankfurt

We warmly invite you to a panel discussion organized in collaboration with the ADAN Politics Club, focusing on both the pitfalls and the positive potential of new social media and emerging technologies, including AI.

The influence of social media, AI, and digital tools on the political participation of BPoC communities in Germany, Europe, and the USA is steadily growing. These technologies have fundamentally transformed how we communicate, access information, and engage politically. We are witnessing the significant role that deepfakes, fake news, digital echo chambers, and ever-evolving algorithms play in driving political mobilization.

Together with experts from the BPoC communities in Germany and the U.S., we aim to explore the opportunities and risks that social media, AI, and generative AI present for BPoC political engagement. How can these digital tools be leveraged to enhance the political participation and representation of BPoC communities? To what extent can AI and social media help amplify the political interests and voices of marginalized groups? What threats do social media and generative AI pose to political participation? And how can we combat digital racism, online hate speech, and other forms of cyber violence?

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking panel discussion with esteemed panelists, including:

Moderated by Danayt Bokrezion, ADAN e.V., and with opening remarks by CG Brian Heath.

Please note: You must register for this event before Thursday, Oct. 10, 12:00 p.m. and present your registration and ID at the entrance.
