Invitation to “In the name of law and justice?: Perspectives of those affected by police violence on justice”

On April 27, 2024, one year after the incident of police violence against members of the Black Academy, we cordially invite you to come together to learn, understand and grow from our struggle. We offer an atmosphere of dialog and solidarity through various program points. We not only want to report on our struggle, but also build a bridge between the past and the future, between the challenges and hope that the issue of police violence brings with it.

The day will begin in Mannheim with an insight into the year following the incident. Afterwards, live stations will provide an insight into the perspectives of those affected by racist police violence.

We are delighted to welcome three speakers to our (online broadcast) panel discussion in the afternoon. Jarral Boyd is an allyship, empowerment and anti-racism trainer, coach and litigator, Mohamed Amjahid is a renowned journalist and author with various publications on racism and police violence and Dirk Burczyk is editor of the magazine Bürgerrechte & Polizei/CILIP and researcher in the field of public policy.

The event will be accompanied by music and food and drink will be provided throughout the day. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us since the incident. It is through your donations and support that we are able to organize this important event.

We dedicate this event to Biplab Basu, a committed activist against police violence, who accompanied and empowered us in our case. Biplab was supposed to be with us on this day, but passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2024. We honor his legacy!

Your voice and your presence are valuable contributions on this journey that we are taking together. We would be delighted if you would spread the word about the event.
